Grow Hemp
Hemp is a crop that a lot of people
usually don’t think about growing. This is mainly as a result of the whinny
factor, you know, the connection between hemp and its psychoactive cousin,
marijuana. However, what most people don’t realize are the amazing qualities
and the wonderful potential of hemp and the need to grow hemp.
Before now, American government
charged farmers not to grow hemp or plant the seed but not too long ago, the
farm bill was passed and signed, allowing farmers to grow hemp. American farmers
want to delve into growing hemp as a money making crop. I mean, farmers need a
cash crop, don’t they? As a farmer growing hemp, you don’t have to stress about
as hemp does not require any input of pesticides, insecticides or fungicides or
whatever. Even fertilization is mainly provided by farmyard manure, which costs
the farmer nothing – artificial manure/fertilizer is often not necessary.
If you have worn soft hemp
clothing, tasted life-improving hemp foods or used hemp hair and body products,
it wouldn’t be hard to advocate to grow hemp or to plant the seed. And if
you’re like me, you must have spread the good news of this wonderful crop to
your friends, family and even strangers.
As soon as you support and welcome
hemp into your life, it’s just natural to start thinking…”How do I make this a
business?”
Well, it’s a welcome thought as
everyone is encouraged to adopt and grow hemp. This is very beneficial crop and
also doubles as a cash crop too. Growing hemp will make you money, provide
additional jobs and contribute its own quota towards improving the country’s
economy.
The benefits of hemp cannot be
overemphasized, the benefits to you as a farmer who has decided to grow hemp
include:
·
Industrial hemp is profitable. The increasing demand
for hemp means that you can make more money compared to most crops with
declining economic returns.
·
Hemp is such a fast growing plant that provides a
canopy within 5 to 6 weeks that most weeds cannot penetrate, meaning fewer
costs for you.
·
Hemp is easy to grow because it’s a strong and hardy
plant. So that means less stress for you.
·
You can grow hemp on as little as 1 hectare or much
bigger depending on the land available to you.
·
You don’t need special machinery to harvest hemp.
·
Hemp can be used to restore depleted soils.
